Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
D-Hive Limited
Financial Year Ending: 2026
Introduction
D-Hive Limited (“D-Hive”) and its subsidiaries (collectively referred to as “D-Hive”) are committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with integrity. We recognise our responsibility to take effective measures to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, servitude, and exploitation within our business operations and supply chains.
This statement is published in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps D-Hive has taken, and continues to take, to minimise the risk of modern slavery occurring within our organisation or supply chain.
D-Hive is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), providing a range of support services to the NHS and wider healthcare sector, including professional services, managed equipment services, facilities support, pharmacy services, recruitment, and staffing solutions.
Our Business
D-Hive operates within the United Kingdom and supports healthcare services through the delivery of operational, commercial, and professional services. Our values are aligned with those of the NHS, placing fairness, respect, integrity, and accountability at the centre of our activities.
Our Commitment
We have zero tolerance for modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to:
- Acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings.
- Maintaining effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
- Ensuring that all workers are treated with dignity and respect.
- Supporting fair employment practices across our organisation and supply chain.
- Working with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to ethical business conduct.
Risk Assessment
D-Hive recognises that some sectors and supply chains can carry an increased risk of modern slavery. Areas that may present higher risks include:
- Procurement of goods and equipment from complex supply chains.
- Temporary staffing and recruitment services.
- Facilities management and support services.
- Contracted services involving lower-paid or agency workers.
While we consider the overall risk within our direct operations to be low, we remain vigilant and continuously review potential risks within our supply chain and business relationships.
Policies and Procedures
To support our commitment, D-Hive operates a range of policies and procedures over and above the Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking policy that promote ethical working practices and compliance with legal obligations. These include:
- Recruitment and employment practices designed to ensure all employees have the legal right to work and are employed voluntarily.
- Whistleblowing policy that enables employees and stakeholders to report concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
- Equal opportunities and anti-harassment policy that promote respectful and inclusive workplaces.
- Procurement and supplier management processes that encourage responsible sourcing and ethical conduct.
Due Diligence
As part of our supplier management and procurement activities, D-Hive seeks to:
- Assess suppliers where appropriate for compliance with relevant employment and human rights legislation.
- Encourage suppliers to adopt measures to prevent modern slavery within their own operations and supply chains.
- Address concerns promptly where potential risks are identified.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers to improve standards where necessary.
Training and Awareness
D-Hive encourages awareness of modern slavery risks among its employees, managers, and those involved in procurement and supplier management activities. Relevant personnel are expected to understand:
- The indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking.
- How to raise concerns or report suspected instances.
- The importance of ethical recruitment and employment practices.
Reporting Concerns
Any employee, contractor, supplier, or stakeholder who has concerns regarding potential modern slavery or human trafficking is encouraged to raise those concerns through the appropriate management channels or whistleblowing procedures. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately.
